Who is your new driving instructor? //
About Me
Hi, I'm Richard Smith - Driving Instructor with RED Driving School. As a new student, I think you should know what to expect from your instructor, so here's a little about my teaching style.

I want you to enjoy your lessons and try to maintain a fairly relaxed atmosphere as I believe it’s essential for a learning environment to be fun and engaging, whilst maintaining a productive educational experience. One of my main goals it to ensure that you receive a personalised experience, adapted to meet your learning style and personality. This allows you to comfortably learn this important new skill in a way that suits you, rather than just doing things in my own way. I’ll help you to plan effectively and drive smoothly to ensure you can confidently make progress on today’s roads. Your training won't just teach you to read the road, but to help you assess and predict the actions of other road users to help keep you safe from bad drivers (there’s far too many out there). I ask anyone who’s had a bad experience previously, or who has given up on driving for another reason to try me, and see for yourself.
The way I see it, it's the responsibility of a driving instructor to get you through this important training with the priority being to send you for your test when you no-longer need instruction, not when you're at the minimum standard required. What many people are unaware of is that the practical driving test is not to be taken with a ‘give it a go’ mentality. Examiners are expecting to sit and mark a competent driver and if a learner puts them in danger, after being told their test ready by an instructor, it is extremely dangerous aside from being totally irresponsible and unprofessional on my part.
I keep myself up-to-date with driving laws and penalties, to ensure you’re fully aware of the dangers of breaking these rules, but also the consequences of being caught before something happens. Driving is dangerous, you are in a metal box weighing over a ton, some capable of travelling at over 100mph… if you aren’t concentrating, lack confidence, or take unnecessary risks it’s very easy to have a serious accident. Don't take the risk - let me teach you to drive safe.
